2021년 “한-메콩 교류의 해”를 맞아 아세안문화원과 외교부가 주최한 두 개의 공모전 우수작들을 한 자리에서 선보입니다. 아세안문화원의 공모전 “한국 속의 아세안, 아세안 속의 한국”에는 시각디자인 분야의 창작자들이 다채로운 시각 이미지들을 출품하여, 한-아세안 간 화합과 융합, 상호 문화에 대한 존중, 미래에 대한 희망을 제시합니다. 

아세안 국가*들 중 특히 메콩 5개국(캄보디아, 라오스, 미얀마, 태국, 베트남)에 주목한 외교부의 사진 공모전 “한국 속의 메콩, 메콩 속의 한국”의 출품작들은 코로나19 팬데믹 이전, 한-메콩 사람들간의 소통과 교류의 현장을 따뜻한 시선으로 포착하고 있습니다. 자유롭게 왕래하며 편히 얼굴을 마주했던 기억들은 사진 속에 선명히 기록되어 머지 않아 다시 찾아 올 만남의 시간을 기대하게 만듭니다. 

우리 다시 만날 때까지… 전시된 작품들을 통해 우리 모두 밝은 곳을 바라보며, 함께 견디어 내자는 격려와 응원을 보냅니다.

The ASEAN Culture House (ACH) and the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) are pleased to present the winning entries of two art contests held in celebration of 2021 as the Mekong-ROK Exchange Year.

The ACH contest, “ASEAN in Korea, Korea in ASEAN,” features visual design artworks in diverse formats and techniques that present messages on ASEAN-ROK harmony, respect for one another’s cultures, and hopes for the future, all surprisingly similar despite their different origins. 

The MOFA photography contest, “Mekong in Korea, Korean in Mekong,” spotlights ASEAN*’s five Mekong countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam). Featured photographic works nostalgically remind us of a time before the COVID-19 pandemic, during which the peoples of Korea and the Mekong region freely interacted face to face. The vividness of the memories of active, fulfilling Mekong-ROK exchanges presented in these photos gives us hope that we will soon be able to meet—in person!—again. 

Until we meet again, may the artworks presented here help us stay optimistic in our current circumstances and reinforce the power of Korea and ASEAN’s shared vision.
