The Korea Foundation, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom
of the Netherlands in Korea, will host the exhibition
Versatile Volumes – The Best Dutch Book Designs Meet Korean
Artists’
Books from June 23 to August 13, 2021. The exhibition commemorates the
60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between
the Netherlands and the Republic of Korea.
The exhibition will feature works recognized by the Best Dutch Book
Designs contest, which has been held annually in the Netherlands, a
country well-known for its graphic and book design, since 1926.
The works on display were chosen by a jury of experts who considered
not only the graphic design and typographic elements of the books, but
also their materials, printing methods, and the quality of their
.
A good book is the result of an encounter between content and
materials—a collaboration between designers, publishers, and the
graphic design industry that merges their creativity and originality.
Viewers will appreciate the tactile and three-dimensional nature of
the items on show, and will also be able to learn about the “Best Book
Design from All Over the World” award, another prestigious competition
that judges the world’s most beautiful books. In addition, the
exhibition will be a meaningful opportunity to experience Korean and
Dutch book design through an artist book d through the
collaboration of Korean artist Kyoungtae Kim and art duo RohwaJeong.
