KF Hosts 2021 Public Diplomacy Camp
From July 31 through September 4, the KF will hold the 2021 Public
Diplomacy Camp online. The camp will begin with an orientation session
for its 31 youth participants from Korea and around the world on July
31. Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the KF’s founding, this
year’s theme is “Doing More for Public Diplomacy.”
Fifteen participants will be from eight of the countries at the center
of the Korean government’s New Northern Policy, and the camp is
expected to provide a meaningful occasion for exchange between them
and Korean participants.
First organized by the KF in 2018 for youth exchange, the camp
typically offers a week-long public diplomacy experience. While the
camp used to bring overseas participants to Korea and send Korean
participants abroad for in-person programming, this year, it will go
online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Taking into consideration the
time differences between participants’ countries and online fatigue,
the camp will be conducted every Saturday for six weeks.
The program will include lectures from experts and use online
platforms to provide cultural experiences. Helping participants become
next-generation leaders, the camp will act as an opportunity for them
to their own agenda items for future public diplomacy.
The 2021 Public Diplomacy Camp aims to be a valuable program for
youths whose chances for international exchange have declined markedly
with the pandemic.
