[Review] Korea-Japan Public Diplomacy Symposium Held in Fukuoka
The Sejong Institute and the Korea Foundation co-organized the Korea-Japan Public Diplomacy Symposium to discuss post-summit prospects and tasks for Korea-Japan relations. At this gathering held in Fukuoka, Japan, on February 19, 2016, Okonogi Masao, Professor Emeritus of Keio University, and Kwon Tae-hwan, Visiting Scholar of the Sejong Institute, spoke on the “Prospects for Korea-Japan Relations: Neighbor Relations to Share Strategic Interests” and “Korea-Japan Security Cooperation with Regard to North Korea’s Nuclear Test and Long-Range Rocket Launch,” respectively. The symposium session was moderated by Nagamori Yoshitaka, Chairman of the RKB Mainichi Broadcasting Corporation. Relevant specialists from Korea and Japan attended the symposium, including Korea’s Consul-General in Fukuoka Park Jin-woong, Professor Kikuchi Yujiro of Kyushu University, Professor Jung Jae-jung of the University of Seoul, Editorial Writer Hakoda Tetsuya of Asahi Shimbun, Researcher Shin Ho of Kyushu University, President Kikkawa Gen of the Hiroshima Peace Institute, and Researcher Lee Myon Woo of the Sejong Institute. Following this initial gathering in Fukuoka, related events are scheduled this year in major cities across Japan, including Osaka, Sapporo, and Nagoya.
