2017 KF Cheonggyecheon Music FestivalCheonggyecheon Meets with World Music The annual Cheonggyecheon Music Festival will be held on September 22–24, co-sponsored by the KF and foreign embassies in Korea. Musicians from eight countries will take to the stage at Cheonggyecheon Hanbit Park, each presenting an impressively diverse repertoire. Part 2 7:30 p.m. Alonso Torres and Lenin Izaguirre of Costa RicaRenowned clarinetist Lenin Izaguirre joins his compatriot, guitarist and composer Alonso Torres, to present a compilation of works by Costa Rican composers from their debut album. Coréon Dú of AngolaEnigmatic multimedia artist Coréon Dú, Africa’s best-kept secret, blends Angolan beats with a host of other genres, including Latin pop, jazz, and rock. Jazzkia of the NetherlandsThis lively quartet is joined by Dutch trumpeter Saskia Laroo as they blend jazz with hip-hop, pop, and world music. Ahmet Baran of TurkeyVersatile Turkish musician Ahmet Baran is sure to dazzle the audience with his traditional Turkish melodies on the kanun. Baeshi Bang of France C’est magnifique! French jazz quintet Baeshi Bang reinvents the hits of 1960s Korean pop star Bae Ho.
