ROK-US Strategic Forum 2019
ROK-US Strategic Forum 2018
The ROK-US Strategic Forum for 2019 will be held at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a leading American think tank, in Washington, DC, on June 24–25. The forum is co-sponsored by the KF and CSIS.
The forum has been annually convened since 2016 as a 1.5-track consultation event that brings together policy makers, government officials, and academics from Korea and the US who are experts on bilateral politics and topics related to diplomacy, security, and defense.
Through candid discussions (both open and closed), Korean and American experts will promote an understanding of each other’s policy directions and seek new ways of cooperation to strengthen a Korea-US relationship that is geared toward the future rather than the past.
The upcoming forum will feature in-depth discussions about solidifying mutual cooperation and assistance for denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and building of a lasting peace in East Asia. It will be attended by approximately 30 experts from both sides. The Korean participants will include Suhyuck Lee(Member of the National Assembly-Democratic Party), Sangyoon Ma(Director-General, Policy Planning Bureau, MOFA), Kijung Kim(Professor, Yonsei University), Hak-soon Paik(Director, Sejong Institute). The US side will include Richard Armitage(President, Armitage International), Victor Cha(Professor, Georgetown University), Mark Lambert(U.S. Special Envoy for North Korea, U.S. Department of State)
