‘Raiment of the soul' Exhibition
The KF and the Greek Embassy in Korea will jointly hold a special exhibition, tentatively titled ‘Raiment of the soul', at the KF Gallery and online.
The exhibition is derived from an international project by Vangelis Kyris and Anatoli Georgiev, commissioned by the National Historical Museum of Greece in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821. In a magnificent encounter between Greek history, traditional culture, and the present day, photographer Vangelis Kyris took portraits of people clad in treasured clothing selected by the museum, and embroidery artist Georgiev transformed the photographs using gold, silver, silk, and cotton thread. The result is an innovative and crucial perspective on the preservation of time-honored traditional Greek heritage and collections at museums. Taking in the contemporary spin on portraits of people in traditional clothes, gallery visitors and online viewers can come to understand Greek people’s love and respect for their tradition, culture, and history, while experiencing an insightful spiritual journey that transcends time and space.
On March 25, the exhibition will open at the KF Gallery and on the KF website (www.kf.or.kr); it will continue through June 3. For detailed information, please refer to the KF website.
The offline exhibition at the KF Gallery will be held in accordance with the government’s social distancing guidelines to curb the spread of COVID-19.
