African Music and Dance Korea Team

The African Music and Dance Korea (AMDK) Team, one of the KF public diplomacy projects, presented the Afro- Korean event in Côte d’Ivoire on July 27–August 7.
The team paid a visit to the National Higher Institute of Arts and Cultural Action (INSAAC) in Côte d’Ivoire and hosted a bilateral workshop for traditional music exchange with INSAAC professors and other artists in Côte d’Ivoire, where musicians from the two countries learned each other’s traditional music. The artists from the two sides jointly held the KUADO Concert where they performed the musical pieces they had d together using the two countries’ traditional instruments.
The Afro-Korean project impressed many people by publicizing Korea through music in Côte d’Ivoire and by showing the process of creating works through the harmony of the musical traditions of the two countries.

MEON Project Team

The MEON Project Team conducted the Korea+Nepal Culture Night program at the National Theater in Jamal, Kathmandu, on August 12–20. The team of Korean dancers, pianists, and media artists hosted an art camp where they met with the Nepalese artists. They also conveyed a message of hope to students at schools that suffered from earthquake-incurred damages.
The art camp at the National Theater was conducted for two days in three categories—music, dance, and media art. On the third day, the Korea+Nepal Culture Night encompassing all genres offered a colorful repertoire of piano and media art performances, traditional dances of the two countries, and traditional music of Nepal.
Particularly popular and impressive was the joint performance of the Korean and Nepalese dancers. The Koreans performed the traditional dance of Nepal to its music, and vice versa. The team played the role of a bridge connecting Korea and Nepal through arts.
