Eligibility
· Applicants must be foreign graduate students undertaking Korea-related coursework and/or research in the humanities and social sciences, culture and arts and be enrolled at their home institutions during the desired scholarship period. Students in the natural sciences, medical sciences, engineering, law, interpretation/translation, and business administration fields are not eligible.
· Applicants must be in residence at their home institutions during the desired scholarship period; those intending to conduct research abroad are not eligible.
· Preference will be given to those who possess sufficient Korean language proficiency to carry out advanced research using Korean-language materials in their study/research.
· Applicants must have shown outstanding academic achievement.
· Students who are receiving support from other programs of the Foundation and fellowship grants from other sources are not eligible for concurrent support under this program.
· Korean nationals are eligible to apply only if they have permanent residency status in a country other than Korea.
Fellowship Period
One academic year but recipients may reapply in following years for additional support.

Application ation (required for all applicants)
· Application form (supplied by the Foundation)
· Three-page proposal outlining the research interests and academic progress of the student
· Transcripts of past coursework (including those of undergraduate or master"s courses)
· Three letters of reference, including one from someone able to attest to the applicant"s Korean language proficiency.

Selection Schedule
· Deadline for application: Apr. 30
· Result notification: end of July
Obligations
Recipients are required to submit a report on their academic/research activities to the Foundation or pertinent universities at the conclusion of their scholarship period. Recipients are also expected to report to the Foundation upon completion of their master"s or doctoral studies, and to keep the Foundation informed of developments in their academic and professional careers thereafter.
