New appointments made for Korean studies at the University of Auckland and University at Albany.
The University of Auckland, New Zealand and University at Albany, State University of New York recently announced new appointments in Korean studies. Dr. Chang-zoo Song, who will teach "Korean Society and Culture" and "Globalization and Korea" at the University of Auckland from February 2002, received his Ph.D. in politics at University of Hawaii. Dr. Andrew S. Byon received his Ph.D. in Korean linguistics at University of Hawaii and was a recipient of the Korea Foundation's graduate scholarship in 1998. He will teach Korean language and culture at University at Albany after his official appointment in September 2002. The Korea Foundation will extend partial support for the establishment of both these professorships.
