The First Future Leaders Forum; Japan-Korea-China 2002
The First Future Leaders Forum; Japan-Korea-China, which is aimed at promoting cooperation and strengthening relations among the future leaders of Northeast Asian countries, will be held in Japan, Korea and China from November 13 - 26, 2002.
This futuristic dialogue, entitled "Trilateral Cooperation Toward Building a Northeast Asian Regional Community," which is being held over 14 days in Tokyo, Tsukuba, Seoul, and Beijing, has been co-organized by The Korea Foundation, The Japan Foundation, and the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations. The Seoul forum will be conducted on November 18-20 at the JW Marriott Hotel, Seoul.
The forum participants will exchange opinions on a variety of discussion topics including "The Role of China, Japan, and Korea Toward Building a Northeast Community," "On Constructing a Regional Economic Governance," and "North Korea and Northeast Asian Regional Stability."
This Forum seeks to establish a person to person network among the region's future leaders through in-depth understanding of such significant issues as politics, economy, security and trade. Consisting of 5 members from each country, this Forum will include the participation of representatives from the government, legislative, business, academic, and media sectors.
Of note, the year 2002 is especially significant for the participating countries as it coincides with the anniversary of Korea-China(10th) and Japan-China(30th) diplomatic relations. This year has also been declared as the year of "people exchanges among Korea-Japan-China" during a recent ASEAN+3 summit meeting in 2000.
This Forum will be held annually so that participants can have an opportunity to visit all three countries and share their personnel views to enhance mutual understanding.
