The Korean Studies Workshop 2005

The 17th Korean Studies Workshop, organized by Korea University and co-hosted by the Korea Foundation, the U.S.-based Korea Society, the Australia-based Asia Education Foundation and the Asia 2000 Foundation of New Zealand, runs June 21 to July 6. Forty-three secondary school teachers, educators and university professors from three English-speaking countries will have an good opportunity to learn more about Korea. The workshop will include lectures on various topics related to Korea’s history, culture, educational system and politics; a visit to a Korean high school and teaching sessions there; the chance to stay with a Korean family; a temple stay at Hwaum Temple; and a Sunmudo(Zen martial arts) lesson at Golgul Temple. Participants will also visit the truce village of Panmunjeom; various Korean industrial sites; and Gyeongju, the ancient capital of Silla. The participants will have a most rewarding experience in Korea and will go on to share the knowledge they have gained with students in their respective countries.
