Korean Studies Workshop for Southeast Asian Educators

The 1st Korean Studies Workshop for Southeast Asian Educators, sponsored by the Foundation and conducted by the Ewha Womans University’s Korean Studies Department, Graduate School of International Studies, is being held from September 6-19. A total of 21 participants, including secondary school social studies teachers, educational administrators, and university professors from nine countries of Southeast Asia are being provided with an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of Korea. The workshop program includes lectures on a variety of subjects, such as Korea’s history, culture, educational system, and political structure. Participants will also visit a Korean high school, industrial facilities, and cultural/historic attractions in Hapcheon and Gyeongju. Based on their firsthand experiences in Korea, the participants will be able to utilize this personal knowledge in their home countries, through classroom instruction and the creation of Web sites to introduce Korea.
