The Claremont McKenna College (CMC) in the United States recently appointed Dr. Myung-koo Kang as assistant professor of Korean Studies in the Department of Government. He will teach Korea-related courses such as Korean politics and society commencing this September. Dr. Kang received his B.A. and M.A. degrees in international relations from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. The Foundation will provide financial support for this faculty position over the five years, after which CMC will maintain the professorship at its own cost. The professorship in Korean studies at CMC is the 58th Korea Foundation-supported Korean Studies Faculty Position to be established in the United States and we believe that the appointee will play an important role in providing a foundation for broadening Korea-related courses and Korean studies in this region as well as at CMC.
