“Korean History: Fresh Perspectives” DVD Series

We are pleased to introduce “Korean History: Fresh Perspectives,” an English-language DVD series of the highly regarded “Yeoksa Special” (역사스페셜), an epic TV ary series about Korea’s unique history, which had been produced by KBS (Korean Broadcasting System).

In order to support Korea-related education and research worldwide, the Korea Foundation and KBS Media have collaborated on the production of this 20-volume series, which includes English subtitles for the benefit of non-Korean viewers. The series provides an in-depth examination of Korea’s rich history, along with presenting fresh perspectives on various aspects of the country’s historical development.

Much effort went into the production of this innovative DVD series, especially in regard to its special features, such as 3D computer graphic re-creations and the use of a virtual studio. In addition, we are most thankful for the contributions of Dr. Michael D. Shin, of the University of Cambridge, who served as the Foundation’s project advisor and editor of the English-language version. Our hope is that this DVD will enable viewers to gain a better understanding of Korea and its people through an appreciation of its impressive history.
