Prof. Driss Ouaouicha, Rector of the University of Al Akhawayn in Ifrane will visit Korea from September 19 to 25 by invitation of the Korea Foundation.

Founded in 1933 by Royal Dahir (charter), the University of Al Akhawayn is the highest academic achievement institution in Morocco. It opened its doors to nurture the most gifted students who will contribute to the development of Morocco and the international community. It has important academic agreements with about 40 internationally famous universities, mostly in the United States, and is acknowledged to have excellent professors and cutting-edge equipment in the IT field. As rector of the university in Ifrane which is a competitive institution of higher learning and scientific and technical research, modeling its administrative, pedagogical and academic organization on the American university system. Through this visit, he is expected to promote positive interactive collaboration between Korea and Morocco and more broadly between Korea and Arabic society.

During his stay, Prof. Driss Ouaouicha will meet with presidents of relevant universities and institutes, such as the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Hannam University, Myongji University, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, where he will deliver a lecture on "Challenges of Higher Education in Morocco," and Konkuk University, to discuss ways to improve relationships. He will also get a chance to visit the National Museum of Korea, the Global Fair and Festival 2009 Incheon, Gyeongbok Palace, the Cheonggyecheon Museum, the DMZ, and the Daejeon Technopark for a first-hand opportunity to appreciate Korea’s past and present.
