[Invitation] Prof. Wu De Xing, President of the Ocean University of China

Professor Wu De Xing, President of the Ocean University of China, accompanied by a delegation from the university, will visit Korea from April 19 to 23, 2010 by invitation of the Korea Foundation.

The purpose of the visit is to hold multilateral discussions on Korea–China joint research on the exploitation of marine resources, and to seek feasible ways to improve bilateral ties and cooperation in academic and educational exchange field on the university level. They have a busy schedule ahead of them, with meetings arranged with local experts from relevant organizations and universities. In addition, they will be exchanging views on how to further promote Korean Studies at the university, expand substantive cooperation and expand Korea-China collaboration through a Korean Language department. 

The Ocean University located in Qingdao, China had been carrying out joint study projects with Korean universities and institutes on ocean and marine territory regarding the Yellow Sea between the two nations. Moreover, Ocean University has played an important role in economic and cultural exchanges pertaining to the Yellow Sea Rim region too. Prof. Wu, is a celebrated scholar as well as a marine scientist in the physical and environmental oceanography department, especially in the Ministry of Education and State Oceanic Administration (SOA), including academia.

Furthermore, during their five-day visit which ends on Friday, they will also visit the National Folk Museum of Korea, Artificial Wetlands of Sihwa Lake, and Cherry blossom festivals in the vicinity of Seoul which will offer them a good opportunity to experience a diverse array of historical and cultural aspects of Korea.
