Mr. Ibrahim Al Abed, Director-General of the Emirates News Agency and the National Media Council in the United Arab Emirates, will visit Korea from April 20 to 22, 2010 by invitation of the Korea Foundation.

The Emirates News Agency ‘WAM(Wakalat Anba'a al-Emarat)', established in 1976 by decree of the Minister of Information and Culture of the United Arab Emirates, is one of the major outlets in the Emirates implementing the Ministry’s media policy. It is one of the key sources of information in terms of providing coverage of over 85% of official activities, as well as the activities of official delegations abroad. Mr. Al Abed is one of the most influential media figures in the UAE and in the international arena. His visit is expected to contribute to enhancing bilateral cooperation and exchanges between the nations.

WAM provides coverage of the World’s Fairs hosted by BIE, Bureau International des Expositions. During his stay, he is planning to meet with the organizing committee of the International Exposition Yeosu Korea 2012 and Korea Communications Commission to have discussions on UAE’s participation and comprehensive issues in the media field. In addition, visits to the Changdeokgung Palace and National Museum of Korea, will offer him firsthand experiences of diverse cultural and historical aspects in Korea.
