[Invitation] Dr. Glenn F. Cartwright, Principal and Vice Chancellor of Renison University College, University of Waterloo in Canada

Dr. Glenn F. Cartwright, Principal and Vice Chancellor of Renison University College, the University of Waterloo in Canada, will visit Korea from May 6 to May 12, 2010 by invitation of the Korea Foundation.

The University of Waterloo is a university established in the city of Waterloo, Ontario, in 1957, and notable for its excellence in the fields of mathematics and engineering, and it has the world largest co-operative education program. Renison University College, established in 1959 and affiliated with the University of Waterloo in 1960, is committed to providing advanced education in the Humanities and Social Sciences, such as Social Works, Languages, Religious Studies, East Asian Studies, etc. In particular, the East Asian Studies Program of the College offers courses on East Asian Studies and the Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages, including four courses related to Korea.

Dr. Cartwright has expertise in the field of education, especially in consciousness, virtual reality and cyberspace in education, educational computer applications and parental alienation syndrome (PAS). He was a professor of education at McGill University, Canada from 1972 through 2009, and became the Principal and Vice Chancellor of Renison University College in 2009.

During his stay in Korea, Dr. Cartwright will visit prominent universities in Korea, such as Korea University, Yonsei University, Sogang University, Ewha Womans University and Ulsan University, to discuss ways to promote mutual exchange and cooperation with Korean universities. He will also visit the International Center for Korean Studies, Kyujanggak Institute of Korean Studies, Seoul National University and the Academy of East Asian Studies, Sungkyunkwan University in order to enhance his understanding of research activities on Korean Studies and East Asian Studies in Korea and share opinions on the promotion of these Studies.

In addition, he will have opportunities to experience various other aspects of Korea by visiting Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., and touring museums and historical sites in Seoul and Gyeongju city.
