[Invitation] Irene Martin, Assistant Director, Exhibition Programs, LACMA

Ms. Irene Martin, Assistant Director, Exhibition Programs of Los Angeles County Museum of Art [LACMA] will visit Korea from May 30 to June 5.

Established in 1910, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is one of the largest museums in the United States and it attracts about one million visitors annually. It holds more than 100,000 art pieces spanning the history of art from ancient times to the present. Films and concert series and various culture programs are offered to the public by the museum, in addition to the art exhibits.

Ms. Martin has a Masters degree in Liberal Arts and Art History from Southern Methodist University. At LACMA she has developed the process for exhibition proposals and approvals through installation. Most importantly, she has standardized negotiating contracts with other institutions to borrow, lend or co-organize exhibitions and now intends to do so on a national and international level.

During her stay, Ms. Martin will meet with directors of various museums to discuss cooperation in the art and exhibition fields with the National Palace Museum of Korea, National Museum of Korea, Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, Seoul Museum of Art and Amorepacific Museum of Art. She will also visit Bukchon Hanok Village and historical sites in Gyeongju for an opportunity to appreciate other aspects of Korean traditional culture.
