[Invitation] Dr. Ines de Castro, Director of the Stuttgart Linden Museum, Germany

Dr. Inés de Castro, Director of the Stuttgart Linden Museum, Germany, will visit Korea from September 13 to 17 by invitation of the Korea Foundation.
 

Dr. de Castro is a prominent figure in folklore preservation in Germany. After graduating from Bonn University, she started to work in the Roemer and Pelizaeus museum which is very famous for its collections of ancient Egyptian and Peruvian art. Dr. de Castro joined the Stuttgart Linden Museum in February 2010 as the director.


Linden Museum was established in 1911 as a private museum. After suffering extensive damage during World War II, the museum was restored in the 1950s and the municipality became its custodian. Since 1973, the museum has been jointly administered by the city of Stuttgart and the state of Baden-Württemberg. It is one of the principal ethnological museums in the world.


During her stay, Dr. de Castro will visit the National Museum of Korea, the National Folk Museum of Korea and the Gyeongju National Museum to share opinions about cultural cooperation between Korea and Germany. She will also visit the Jongmyo Shrine, the Changdeok Palace and Gyeongju cultural sites for a first-hand opportunity to appreciate Korea’s past and present.
