[Invitation] Mr. Janusz Reiter, President of the Center for International Relations, Poland

Mr. Janusz Reiter, President of the Center for International Relations, Poland, will visit Korea from October 30 to November 5 by invitation of the Korea Foundation.


Mr. Reiter studied German literature and language at the University of Warsaw and started working as a journalist in 1977.


He served as Polish Ambassador to Germany from 1990 to 1995. He played a major role in reshaping the Polish-German relationship during this decisive period in history.


In 1996, Mr. Reiter established the Center for International Relations, an independent think tank on foreign and security policy in Poland. 


In 2005, he was appointed Poland’s Ambassador to the United States. He returned to Poland in late 2007 and took up the position of Poland’s Special Envoy for Climate Change. He also served as vice-chairman of the Management Board of the media company Presspublica.


Mr. Reiter is author and co-author of a number of books, policy papers, and articles on Europe, transatlantic relations, European security policy and other international topics. He had his own television program on Polish Public TV and was a columnist for several newspapers including Frankfurter Algemeine Zeitung, Die Zeit, Die Weltwoche, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post. 


During his stay, he will visit the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS), the Institute for National Security Strategy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT), the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), and the Presidential Committee for the G20 Summit 2010. He will also visit the War Memorial of Korea, Bukchon Hanok Village, Cheongwadae Sarangchae Exhibition, Gyeongbok Palace,  Hyundai Motors and Gyeongju historical Sites for a first-hand opportunity to appreciate Korea’s past and present.
