[Invitation] Ms. Lucy Bogari, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Papua New Guinea

Ms. Lucy Bogari, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Papua New Guinea, will visit Korea from April 10 to 16, 2011 by invitation of the Korea Foundation.

Ms. Bogari studied International Relations at the Institute of Administrative Sciences and she has a master′s degree in Australia from Australian National University.

Deputy Secretary Bogari served as Papua New Guinea′s first resident Ambassador to Korea from 1992 to 1995. She played a major role in reshaping the Papuan-Korean relationship during this decisive period in history. While she worked in Korea, she was awarded for her meritorious diplomatic service by Kim Young-sam, then President of the Republic of Korea.

After Ms. Bogari completed her assignment as Ambassador, she was appointed as Deputy Head of the Papua New Guinea Mission to the European Union in Belgium. And then, she served as the Papua New Guinea alternative board member of the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization in France She also served in many senior positions at the head office of Papua New Guinea’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

During her stay, she will have briefings and discussions on cooperative exchanges between Korea and Papua New Guinea at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT) and the Ministry of Unification. In addition, she will also visit the DMZ, the War Memorial of Korea, Bukchon Hanok Village, Cheongwadae Sarangchae Exhibition, Gyeongbok Palace, and various museums to gain insights into Korea’s past and present.
