[Invitation] Dr. Javier Garciadiego President of the College of Mexico

Dr. Javier Garciadiego, president of the College of Mexico (El Colegio de Mexico) will visit Korea from September 14 to September 20 by invitation of the Korea Foundation.

The College of Mexico was established for the purpose of nurturing high elite scholars in the social sciences field by exiled scholars since the Franco era. It is a prestigious University that produces outstanding individuals such as the minister and vice minister of foreign affairs.

Dr. Javier Garciadiego graduated in Political Science at UNAM University and obtained master’s and doctorate degrees in history at the University of Chicago. He has served as president of the College of Mexico since 2005 and has authored 20 books, including eight volumes of "This is a Revolution in Mexico" related to Mexico history.

During his stay, in order to discuss partnerships in the education field, Dr. Javier Garciadiego will meet with his counterparts at the Academy of Korean Studies, Seoul National University, Latin American Institute, Korea University of Foreign Studies, Dongguk University, Pusan National University, and Pusan University of Foreign Studies.

He will also visit the National Museum of Korea, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Gyeongju cultural sites, and the Blue House (Cheongwadae Sarangchae) for an opportunity to gain a broader appreciation of Korea’s history and culture.
