[Review] 2016 Korean Studies Reception
On April 1, the KF hosted its Korean Studies Reception in conjunction with the annual conference of the Association for Asian Studies (AAS), which was held on March 31-April 3. Over 200 Koreanists attended at this event including Korean Studies majors and librarians from universities throughout North America as well as Korean Studies scholars such as Director Kim Sun-joo of the Korea Institute at Harvard University, Professor Ross King of the University of British Columbia’s Department of Korean Language and Literature, and Professor Theodore Hughes of the Center for Korean Research at Columbia University. The KF took this opportunity to express its gratitude to the attendees for their dedicated efforts to advance Korea-related education and research in North America, along with calling for their continued endeavors to foster the next generation of scholars and researchers of Korean Studies.
Every year, the AAS organizes an international conference that includes the participation of over 3,000 East Asian scholars from around the globe, which offers academic presentations by researchers and students as well as discussion sessions. Through the Korean Studies Reception event, the Korea Foundation strives to reinforce the network relations of renowned scholars, next-generation academics, and Korean Studies majors throughout the North American region.
