Guido López-Gavilán, one of Cuba’s premier composers and conductors, will direct a performance of the chamber orchestra Música Eterna at KF Gallery in Seoul on August 31, 2016. Recognized for bringing together classical artistry with mainstream appeal, López-Gavilán will lead his six-member ensemble to bring the vibrant sounds of Cuba, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and other South American countries to listeners in Korea. In addition, on August 30, one day prior to the group’s performance, López-Gavilán will deliver a lecture on “Changes in Mainstream and Concert Music in Cuba.” As an effort to boost exchange with a nation that has no formal relations with Korea, the concert and lecture will enable audiences to glimpse the ongoing trends of contemporary Cuban music.
